The Cellar Door: New Business Brings Premier Wine and Shopping Experience to Colorado

By: PRLog
PR Log - Feb 03, 2012 - The entry to The Cellar Door accents heavy hand-crafted doors, a rod-iron patio, wine and a retail outlet all focused on the serious wine consumer, according to owners Jamie and Ben Caperton.

“We have found that even during down economic times, people buy wine. So it was a strong business decision to add wine to our inventory,” the Caperton’s said.

“It is our goal to provide our customers with the premiere wine and shopping experience,” said Ben and Jamie Caperton.
“We are delighted to be offering a wide variety of wines through award-winning Aspen Peak Cellars,” Jamie Caperton said. The winery  is from Bailey, CO., located along US Hwy 285 and the Platte River!

And ,that’s not all.  “We will have a unique wine club including an on staff sommelier, food pairings from the master chefs Julie and Marcel Flukiger as well as the things we've always been known for quality gift lines,” Ben Caperton said.
Membership to the wine club is available now. See below for details.
The Caperton’s are excited about their new business. “One of the things we like most about the new facet of our business is interacting with people from all over. We have had people come in to doing tastings from as far away as China, Australia, England and close as our neighbors,” Jamie said.

“We want to position The Cellar Door as the  -- go to-- wine resource in Woodland Park.   A secondary goal…make Woodland Park a destination for a great Colorado mountain wine experience,”  said Ben and Jamie Caperton.

The Cellar Door will represent over 60 local artisans.  “We will carry top quality lines such as Certified International and Riedel wine gear, Cindy Smith and Eye Candy jewelry lines, several different fashion lines and Bearington Bears Collection and Baby Legs baby lines,” Jamie said.

“Being a small retailer we obviously can't carry everything in store all the time so we plan to have fun in store trunk shows to bring you great new lines we don't carry on an ongoing basis. We have one coming up February 21st Vault Denim Check.” she said.

Caperton’s goal is to have The Cellar Door become a special meeting place.  “If you have a sorority party, financial group, book club, etc. then check us out,” she said.  “Wine, Women and Wealth – Colorado has already booked our business,” she said.

The Cellar Door will offer discounts to create awareness and to bring in customers. “We'll be working with other local retailers to bring customers quality products but also great sales and
discounts. We are proud to be a part of the Moose is Loose campaign and will be running a 75% off patio sale during this sale,” Jamie said.

Marcel and Julie Flukiger are the The Aspen Peak Proprietors .
Marcel gave Julie a wine making kit for Christmas. Little did they know that this new hobby would quickly get out of control and would lead to a winery, bistro, B&B combination in 2009 located at the historic Clifton House Inn in Conifer.

“Celebrating the Art of Food and Wine,” is their slogan, their constant motivation working towards excellence in every branch of their business.

They produced and sold 1200-1500 cases of wine annually in their first 2 years and are expanding their production after moving to a bigger space in Bailey beginning of 2012.  However,  they will keep a tasting room, restaurant and B&B in Conifer.  Their second tasting room is now at The Cellar Door in Woodland Park.

The Cellar Door will offer a Chef/Executive Sommelier, Jocelyne Fay. Born in Beirut, Lebanon, she grew up surrounded with rich Mediterranean and European cuisines. Chef Fay is a certified culinarean, baker and a certified Executive Sommelier.
“Pairing food and wine is an art. And we really glad that Chef Fay will be a part of our business,” Jamie and Ben said.
