PacketViper Lands One on the Chin to Spammers and Hackers with Global Network Lists and a Click!

By: PRLog
PR Log - Jan 17, 2012 - The norm through today is to purchase firewalls, SPAM filtering, IDS systems and all sorts of other intelligence to preempt undesirable traffic.

Although each of these systems works well and we believe are still important, they do not solve the problem of unwanted, clogging, threatening, and spamming traffic accessing the customer’s network link.  In response, Viper Network Systems has developed a system which gives better traffic control for network administrators.

Fortunately with the creation and launch of PacketViper, businesses no longer have to accept unwanted traffic from the four corners of the world. Our customers have found that when PacketViper is deployed and filtering SPAM, global threats decrease along with improvements to their bandwidth.  In fact, PacketViper works so well that some customers could not believe how immediate and effective the results were for their network.

What many do not realize is although firewalls firewall, and SPAM filters filter, the traffic is still processed which equates to bandwidth, time, and increased system loads.

PacketViper stops the new connection, which in turn prevents the remaining packet payload from traversing our customer’s link.

“We thought something was broken when we enabled the Global Network Lists and began filtering countries!”

Viper Network Systems has taken country network filtering to a new level by providing Global Network Lists (GNLs).  These comprehensive lists, currently focused within the US and Canada, have captured and cataloged many of the IP handling businesses, such as Collocation Facilities, Hosting Providers, Cable Providers, and E-Marketers to name a few.

These lists are provided to each customer with a rating, description, business type, A.K.A, and known locations. They are designed to give network administrators the ability to quickly filter networks which have been known to be spam, loose, or vulnerable.  Although administrators do not have to enable these lists, most of our customers have found that once they do, the lists help to reduce bandwidth usage, SPAM, and threats for countries which are unfiltered.

Global Network Lists are updated each evening from new data from other PacketViper customers, and also from secret PacketVipers called HoneyPots, which sit dormant waiting to be attacked.  When collected each evening, a rating system is assigned based on the networks’ activities.  They are then published daily to all PacketVipers keeping our customers updated with the freshest global network data.

Viper Network Systems likes to call the GNLs a network dossier of online business because once the GNL is published; it will stay with that business for its life on the Internet.

Administrators can filter the entire list or specific ports from the list.  This feature is also included in country filtering, where customers who need to allow web traffic but filter mail traffic from a particular country. This is nearly next to impossible with today’s available technologies.

One Customer says: “It’s one of the many features of PacketViper which makes it stand alone!”

Viper Network Systems' PacketViper does more than just filter countries easily.  It gives control back to network administrators!
