Pfizer (NYSE:PFE) said it is buying fellow drug maker King Pharmaceuticals (KG) for $3.6 billion, or $14.25 a share, in cash. The offer represents a premium of roughly 40% to King Pharma’s recent share price. Pfizer said the deal would add 2 cents a share to its 2011 and 2012 earnings. In other news, Health-care giant Merck (NYSE:MRK) and H. Lundbeck AS agreed to jointly market Sycrest tablets to treat mania in patients with bipolar disorder.
