U.S. futures drift before Wal-Mart, jobless data

Stock futures hold to a tight range ahead of earnings news from retailing giant Wal-Mart Stores and a number of reports on the economy, while gold drops on a plan by the International Monetary Fund to sell nearly 200 metric tons of the precious metal.
