Ciena to buy Nortel's Ethernet assets

LONDON (MarketWatch) -- Ciena Corp. will buy the optical and metro Ethernet business of bankrupt Canadian firm Nortel Networks for $769 million, trumping an offer from Nokia Siemens Networks in a three-day auction.
