The Vena Vena x West Elm Small Business Saturday Artisan Holiday Market is slated for Saturday November 25, 2023, from11am-5pm at the West Elm in Santa Monica (1427 4th Street West Elm #6170, Santa Monica,CA 90401).

This special holiday shopping event will feature several local artisans, including Vena Vena Handcrafted, Surefire Studio, Drawing a Crowd, Poetronigirl, NEFER Beauty, Piel Culta, MySavory Adventures, XCA Artisan Ceramics, and Shoot Films Not People. There will be on the spot poetry by Typewriter Poetry and a 1-1.5 hour musical performance by former Disney Junior star Leela Ladnier, who was the voice of Mira on ‘Mira Royal Detective’. Ladnier’s first single, “Eternal”, will make its debut on December 1, 2023, on Spotify. “Eternal” can be pre-saved via Distrokid. Her performance on Saturday will include classics, covers, and holiday hits.

Each vendor will donate to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospitals in lieu of a vendor fee.

Vena Vena Handcrafted is a Los Angeles-based sustainably sourced leather handbag and accessories company founded in 2017 by Lavena Lewis, a Black senior who started the company from a homeless shelter. Vena Vena Handcrafted is a frequent pop up vendor at West Elm and has partnerships with West Elm, MasterCard, and The Jennifer Hudson Show. “I utilize my skills and lived experience to advocate for unhoused women through volunteering, donating, and fundraising as well as meeting with business and political leadersto help influence and evoke change,” said Lewis.

Lewis and her business partner, Anu Hodges of The Genuine Article, were invited to curate local vendors for this year’s holiday shopping events at the West Elm and DTLA. The DTLA event is scheduled for December 2, 2023, from 11am-5pm, and a similar mix of vendors will be hosted by Vena Vena Handcrafted that day.
