Item 7.01 Regulation FD Disclosure
On April 26, 2006, First Community Bancshares, Inc. (the Company) held a conference call to
discuss its financial results for the quarter ended March 31, 2006. The conference call was
previously announced in the earnings release dated April 25, 2006. During such conference call, in
addition to information from the aforementioned press release, the Company disclosed the following
information:

Management anticipates a fairly stable net interest margin through the rest of 2006. |

Expense control measures resulted in a decrease of approximately 35 full-time equivalent employees during the first
quarter of 2006. |

The Company repurchased approximately 81 thousand shares of its stock, and reissued approximately 41 thousand shares
for various reasons. |
