Item 5.02 Departure of Directors or Certain Officers: Election of Directors: Appointment of Certain Officers; Compensatory Arrangements of Certain Officers.

On January 7, 2009, Scott D. Eltjes submitted his resignation as Chief Executive Officer of WB Capital Management Inc., (“WB Capital”) a subsidiary of West Bancorporation, Inc. (NASDAQ: WTBA).

Also on January 7, 2009, Jeffrey D. Lorenzen, President and Chief Investment Officer of WB Capital, submitted his resignation.

Douglas R. Gulling, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of West Bancorporation, Inc. and a director and treasurer of WB Capital will serve as interim Chief Executive Officer of WB Capital.
