Country Club at Woodland Hills Makes Landmark Donation to Local Honor Flight Organization

The Tulsa senior living community stunned even its own charity partner by donating a Cadillac to the Oklahoma Warriors Honor Flight Network at its recent Oktoberfest Celebration & Classic Car Show.

BONITA SPRINGS, Fla. - November 13, 2019 - (Newswire.com)

On Saturday, October 26, upscale senior living community Country Club At Woodland Hills held its inaugural Oktoberfest Celebration & Classic Car Show, a charity event to benefit the Oklahoma Warriors Honor Flight Network. Antiques, hot rods, and classic cars were all on display that day, but the vehicle that ultimately stole the show was a late-model Cadillac, which was donated by the community, alongside net proceeds from the event.

This was an extremely generous—and unexpected—contribution by the residents and Team Members of Country Club At Woodland Hills,” said Larry Hurt, Director of Flight Operations of Oklahoma Warriors Honor Flight. “We’re deeply moved and appreciative for this gift, which will be integral in continuing the Honor Flight Network’s mission of sending U.S. military veterans to Washington, D.C. to visit national memorials of the respective wars they fought.”

Country Club At Woodland Hills resident Jack Wells, who himself visited Washington, D.C. courtesy of the Honor Flight Network, proudly presented a clear title and the keys to the Cadillac. “Having had the opportunity to experience an Honor Flight mission myself, I understand the life-changing power of this organization,” said Wells, “and I take great pride in knowing that our community will make it possible for many more fellow veterans to experience a similar journey.”

Trish Behrens, Executive Director of Country Club At Woodland Hills, expressed satisfaction and the community’s desire to share the gift with local residents, saying, “Allow this gesture to symbolize how our community, alongside the people of Tulsa and the surrounding areas, join together to honor and respect all veterans for their service and sacrifice in the name of our country.”

Country Club At Woodland Hills is a 203-unit Independent and Assisted Living community located at 6333 S. 91st East Avenue in Tulsa, owned and operated by Florida-based Discovery Senior Living.
