Lower Close As Tech Stocks Tumble

The markets closed lower with the Dow losing 26 points to 16,276 as technology stocks tumbled. Nasdaq plunged 50 points to 4226. 

On the upside 

Bargain hunters snapped up shares of Miller Energy (NYSE: MILL).

Zacks Equity Research cited the recent upward trend in Bon-Ton’s (Nasdaq: BONT) full year earnings estimate for saying that the department store operator had upside potential.

Shares of Vertex Energy (Nasdaq: VTNR) climbed ahead of its earnings release tomorrow before market open.

On the downside

B. Riley downgraded Wet Seal (Nasdaq: WTSL) from a Neutral rating to a Sell rating. 

Investors locked in profits on Tekmira Pharmaceuticals (Nasdaq: TKMR).

Shares of Novavax (Nasdaq: NVAX) continued falling.

In the broad market, declining issues outpaced advancers by a margin of more than 5 to 3 on the NYSE and by nearly 3 to 1 on Nasdaq. The broader S&P 500 lost 9 points to 1857. Bitcoin rose $17.96 or 3.17%% to $583.77.
