Elon Musk’s xAI Set to Introduce 4X Bigger Supercomputers than Meta’s

The famous business tycoon of the tech world, Elon Musk, plans to introduce gigantic supercomputers for his AI-based firm, xAI. The report released by The Information on 25 May said that Musk has termed the technology the “Giga-factory of Computers” and is supposed to power the next generation of his AI chatbot, Grok 3.

According to reports, Musk recently presented to investors his dedication to the project and said that it strictly follows the schedule. He wants this supercomputer—which will have 100,000 Nvidia chips—to be operational by the fall of 2025.

According to the story, Musk said that the proposed supercomputer will be “at least four times the size of the largest GPU clusters currently in existence,” which includes the ones that Meta uses to train its AI models.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has evolved to be a fiercely competitive industry since the OpenAI introduced ChatGPT in 2022. Prominent players like Google, Meta, and Microsoft are fighting for domination in the field alongside initiatives like Stability AI and Anthropic.

Musk’s financial stability actively challenges industry powerhouses like Google and OpenAI. His establishment of the AI platform xAI in 2023 is a competition to these industry leaders. Grok is a chatbot of xAI that can access data from Musk’s X (previously Twitter) in real-time.

The billionaire incorporated at least 20,000 Nvidia H100 GPUs in his Grok 2 chatbot. The next model, Grok 3, might require more than 100,000 Nvidia H100 chips to perform. He hinted that xAI may partner with Oracle for supercomputer manufacturing.

During a recent interview at the Viva Tech event, Elon Musk talked about his future missions and joked about being an alien. The host mentioned, “Some people believe you are an alien.” Musk, keeping a straight face and with a hint of trick, said, “I am an alien. I keep telling people I’m an alien, but nobody believes me.” The tech enthusiast, already known for his free-spoken nature, left the audience amused and curious with his response.
