Bradford Systems - a US supplier of automated storage units - has announced updates to its space-saving vertical storage solutions for busy warehouses.
-- The updated range allows storage facilities to build upward, not outward, and maximize every inch of available space. Thanks to an enduring partnership with vertical storage lift manufacturer Modula, Bradford Systems helps businesses achieve maximum storage density and improve productivity and worker safety.

The Modula Vertical Lift trays can store as much as 2,200 lbs and come with robust steel-reinforced toothed belts that allow inventory to be moved swiftly and safely. The company explains that vertical storage can release up to 90% of the space used by traditional storage methods, enabling businesses to expand their operations without moving premises.
A spokesperson says, “Vertical lifts replace an entire floor full of static racks & shelving in approximately 10% of the floor space. These vertical warehouses can improve picking efficiency by more than 300% and increase inventory accuracy to over 99%.”
Inventory tracking is a key feature of the Modula system: the storage units automatically integrate with companion software which monitors user logins and picking operations to ensure accuracy. These features prevent problems with picking assignments and stop the same orders from being picked by different operators.
Bradford's warehouse management system tracks inventory in real-time, allowing companies to re-order materials as and when they are needed. All stock control parameters can be customized to meet business-specific requirements.
The company can also integrate the vertical lift systems with existing software, covering WMS, ERP, and DMS databases across different sectors from healthcare to automotive.
Users can deploy a range of bay configurations - external, internal, single, or dual - and accessories such as barcode readers, label printers, LED visual picking aids, part counting scales, and transportation carts.
Safety and security are assured via assignable operator permissions settings and barcode verification. Stock is protected from theft, humidity, and dust exposure by secure automatic doors, Bradford Systems adds.
Employee safety is also prioritized with Modula Vertical Lift's ergonomic design. The spokesperson explains, “With bays for picking and placing, vertical lift modules are ergonomic masterpieces, maximizing productivity by reducing operator fatigue and potential for injury. All our equipment is TUV-GS safety-certified, fitted with physical safety barriers, and designed to bring goods to the operator by avoiding stretching, climbing, or bending for materials.”
