Nickelodeon & Disney Stars Narrate Books on Simbi to Motivate Students to Read More Books More Often

By: Get News
Read for Good Challenge Brings Interactive Learning Technology and Content to K-7 Educators.

Vancouver, Canada-based educational technology startup Simbi launched its “Read for Good Challenge” to provide interactive stories for K-7 teachers to use to help improve student literacy and motivate students to read more books, more often. Over two weeks, teachers and students will connect with classes around the world to read books from top-tier publishers and win prizes and mentorship from top educators.

Teachers can sign up for Simbi and the Read for Good Challenge for free. By reading with Simbi, students support each other in their reading journeys. One student’s narrated story can help motivate thousands of students globally to learn to read and help boost their reading confidence.

Simbi’s digital library allows students to flip through pages as they narrate, read along, or read silently. In doing so, they make use of audio and video in a new way to aid reading fluency and comprehension.

Many child stars are narrating books for Simbi’s digital library including Aria Brooks from Nickelodeon’s “All That,” Faly Rakotohavana from Disney’s “Secret Society of Second Born Royals,” Faithe Herman from “This is Us,” and Darla Dudley in “Shazam.”

With the recent start of the school year, this two-week challenge will help launch students into an impactful reading practice. The challenge runs until October 1, 2021, and due to exceedingly high demand, Simbi will continue to run additional challenges throughout the school year ahead.

Participating classes get a virtual visit with Coast Salish Author, Courtney Defriend, who will share her book “If Instead of a Person” with participants while integrating themes of Truth and Reconciliation. Juno Award-nominated artist and author Ginalina will also join participants to read her book “The Mighty River” during the challenge.

The class that reads the most books gets to create their own story for the digital Simbi Global Library, receives a reading-inspired prize pack, and wins a class set of books from a Gear Pick pack selected by literacy expert Adrienne Gear.

Short attention spans are the norm in today’s digital media age, and Simbi addresses this by adding an interactive element to the learning process with stories students will want to read. Teachers, parents, and students alike are invited to register for the Read for Good Challenge at https://readwithsimbi.com/read-for-good-challenge.
