Minneapolis, MN - On October 19th, 2024, The Mosaic in Minneapolis was transformed into a breathtaking “Purple Paradise” for the 5th Annual Black Business Ball, hosted by Black Business Enterprises (BBE). This highly anticipated event was a dazzling celebration of Black excellence, entrepreneurial achievement, and community empowerment, drawing attendees from across the Twin Cities and beyond.

This year’s Ball celebrated notable contributions to the business community. Candice Ellis was named Entrepreneur of the Year, while Tommy McNeal and his Flame Mobile Kitchen Caterers received the Tasty Choice of the Year Award for their outstanding culinary excellence.

The evening’s energy was elevated by the dynamic duo of Shayla Reaves, an award-winning journalist, and comedian Joseph “Juice” Sutton, who kept the crowd engaged with their seamless blend of humor and heartfelt moments.

October 19 Officially Declared as Black Business Day in Minnesota

In a groundbreaking move, Governor Tim Walz’s office issued an official proclamation declaring October 19 as Black Business Day in Minnesota. This historic declaration underscores the vital contributions of Black-owned businesses to the state’s economy and cultural fabric. The honor was spearheaded by Nancy Korsah, Founder and CEO of Black Business Enterprises, whose tireless advocacy has been instrumental in creating this momentous occasion.

“Black Business Day celebrates not only the entrepreneurial spirit but the strength and unity of our community,” said Korsah. “We are proud to stand with and support Black entrepreneurs as they reach their goals and create lasting impacts in our society.”
