Item 8.01.        Other Events.

On July 30, 2007, Stage Stores, Inc. (the “Company”) issued a News Release announcing that it selected Jeffersonville, Ohio as the site of its third distribution center.  The Company also stated that it will lease approximately 200,000 square feet and expects to invest over $12 million on machinery and equipment in preparing its new facility for operation.  A copy of the News Release is attached to this Form 8-K as Exhibit 99.
