Other Events.

Stage Stores, Inc. to Present at the SunTrust Robinson Humphrey 35th Annual Institutional Conference

On April 5, 2006, Stage Stores, Inc. (the "Company") issued a news release announcing that management will make a presentation at the SunTrust Robinson Humphrey 35th Annual Institutional Conference on Tuesday, April 11, 2006, at 1:20 p.m. Eastern Time. The conference is being held at The Ritz-Carlton Buckhead in Atlanta, Georgia. A copy of the news release is attached to this Form 8-K as Exhibit 99.1.

March Sales; Resumption of Stock Repurchase Program

On April 6, 2006, Stage Stores, Inc. issued a news release announcing the Company's March 2006 sales and updated fiscal year 2006 earnings guidance to include the impact of the B.C. Moore acquisition and increased full year share count. The resumption of the Company's stock repurchase program was also announced. A copy of the news release is attached to this Form 8-K as Exhibit 99.2.
